Is Social Media Right For Your Business?

As Jim Rohn would say – “Of Course”

Please share with your friends and colleagues

Many business owners, especially those who have had their  business for some time and are used to working in established and traditional ways, are asking the question … “ Is Social Media Right For My Business?”
Without a doubt, the answer is “Yes!”
And the reason is, that’s where your customers are heading, now and in the future.
Forget what you’re used to doing, what you’ve always done. Don’t think because you’ve got a website, that’s all you need. The rate of change is faster than ever.

The amount of information published in the last 48 hours exceeds all the information published since the beginning of time, and this is your competition.
Last year’s saying “If you don’t have a website you’re invisible” is still true. But it’s no longer enough.

Ask yourself this question? Is my website optimised for mobile? If you don’t know, or don’t even understand the question, it’s time you found out.

The growth in mobile phones and other devices already outstrips the sales of PCs and for one good reason. More and more people are accessing the Internet from mobile devices. Already more emails are read on mobile phones than on PCs.

Messages have to be more focussed and shorter. Just as texting has exploded, messages using services such as Twitter have grown at a phenomenal rate and will continue to do so. Facebook already has more searches than Google. Videos on Youtube have skyrocketed in the past year as “the current way to advertise” and that is now being surpassed by the phenomenal speed of the growth of Pinterest.

What does all this mean to you? It means you have to re-think how you communicate,

If you’re not doing so already, get a Twitter account, start following people you know and those who are in your business area. Look for prospective customers, answer their questions, make yourself visible. www.search.twitter.com is a great way of finding them.
And do the same with your Facebook Page.

These are both easy and pretty straightforward to start with and you’ll soon get to see how valuable they are to your business.
No doubt things will continue to change, and probably at an even faster rate, and you cannot afford to get left behind.
